The Beginning of FFA in Wright City...
Teacher William Keller started an FFA chapter at Wright City High School in 1938 and their first charter was signed by 30 students, advisor, William Keller and superintendent Gooch on January 25, 1939.

Two basement rooms were used as the space for the new Ag Dept. The boys worked hard to build equipment for a good blacksmith shop. It was then used to build cases, tables, library and many other things.

The slogan used "Learn from the Success and Failure of Others". Each boy carefully studied the right methods and skills used to properly manage his home, crops, and livestock.

Not only did the group set up the first Ag Department in the district, the new FFA chapter began many activities during that first year which included initiating Missouri's first of a series of chapter radio programs over KMOX. They also took teams and entered stock in state show and contests at Columbia and St. Louis, and attended the American Royal Show in Kansas City. They hosted a Fathers and Sons Banquet, a Steak Fry and a Fishing Trip.
The first officers were:
Maurice Hedeman, President Lloyd Jaspering, Watch Dog
Elver Hargis, Vice President George Davis, Reporter
Melvin Schlueter, Treasurer Mr. Keller, Advisor
Nelson Auer, Secretary
